Service Description

Y12SR is a cutting edge therapeutic modality founded and developed by Nikki Meyers in 2003. With the permission of the AA world service center, Nikki Meyers incorporates the 12 steps of AA and traditional recovery programs with the philosophy of yoga to create a 12 step meeting that is paired with a yoga class. The yoga of Y12SR aims to meet the needs of those in recovery. With multiple recovery based interventions incorporated into each yoga session, Y12SR connects the mind and body in unity through the simultaneous use of somatic and cognitive interventions all in one class. Y12SR meetings offered by Recovery Yoga Mn begin with yoga to calm the mind and body as well as increase mindfulness, and then conclude with a Y12SR meeting. It is my philosophy that this approach increases the effectiveness of the therapeutic benefit of the meeting portion of the session. Miss Sarah LH received her training directly from Nikki Meyers, and is a certified Y12SR leader and space holder. Miss Sarah has received all training necessary to design and develop Y12SR classes. This Y12SR meeting is designed specifically to meet the needs of clients in treatment centers recovering from chemical dependency and trauma. Drawing on her training with Nikki, as well as her education in psychology, holistic healing, wellness coaching, and multiple different types of yoga, she designed this class to incorporate cognitive and somatic interventions that connect the mind and body and provide a powerful and effective positive experience for each client. Interventions include Y12SR, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Heart Math breathing, Pranayama, Mudras, Sound Therapy, Guided Mindfulness Meditations, Positive Affirmations, Cognitive Restructuring Meditations, Acceptance Exercises, Nervous System Regulation Exercises, and Body Awareness Exercises. All interventions are offered in a trauma informed format and based in the three component CBT model of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Classes are provided on site at treatment centers. Recovery Yoga Mn provides all necessary equipment that client will need for class. All clients will have access to 1 yoga mat, 2 yoga bolsters, 2 yoga blocks, 1-2 yoga blankets, and 1 yoga strap. Classes are booked via contract with Recovery Yoga Mn, and may be booked at frequencies of 1-2 sessions a week, or 1 session every 2 weeks.
